IBFAN-GIFA contributed to the One Asia Breastfeeding Partner’s Forum in Laos on 28th – 30th October, with an orientation session on ‘Breastfeeding as a Human Right’.

22 countries from the Asian region gathered to share country perspectives as well as discuss cross-cutting issues such as conflicts of interest and human rights.

IBFAN-GIFA also trained 20 representatives from governments and civil society from Mozambique, South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Swaziland on the main elements to a human rights approach and their application to breastfeeding. This was part of a two-day workshop on ‘Human Rights Approach and Maternity Protection’, organized by IBFAN-Africa in Maputo on 25-27 November 2013.
